Celebrating 38 Years of Formation, Faith, and Holistic Excellence!
Now under the leadership of the pioneer Senior Prefect, Rev Sr C.C. Orji HHCJ
Today, with hearts filled with gratitude and joy, we commemorate the 38th anniversary of Handmaids Holy Child Juniorate Amumara—a sacred milestone in the journey of a school that has stood for formation, faith, character, and academic excellence for nearly four decades.
Founded on 22nd January 1988 under the visionary leadership of Sister Maria Perpetua Azumara, and nurtured by the enduring support of the Catholic community and the early leadership of His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Mark Unegbu, this institution began humbly with just sixty-six pioneer students and seven dedicated teachers. From those modest beginnings to the vibrant juniorate it is today, HHCJ Amumara has risen to become a beacon of hope, virtue, and wholesome education in Ezinihitte Mbaise, Imo State.
A Legacy Rooted in Formation and Values
Handmaids Holy Child Juniorate Amumara was established with a clear and profound mission: to form young girls not just academically, but morally, spiritually, and socially. True to the ethos of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus, our school nurtures every student to grow in Christian virtues, God-fearing character, disciplined life, and seasoned citizenship—preparing each one not merely for examinations, but for life itself.
Over the years, the campus has expanded beyond its initial classrooms to include well-equipped science laboratories, a chapel where faith is strengthened daily, library resources that fuel curiosity, modern examination halls, computer labs, staff offices, and a hostel complex that accommodates hundreds of students with comfort. Each development stands as a testimony to the faith, sacrifice, and collective effort of benefactors, parents, formators, and the broader HHCJ family.
Voices of Gratitude: A Heartfelt Alumna Message
On this joyous occasion, we share with pride and humility the poignant reflections of one of our cherished alumnae, Okere Lucy. Her message resonates deeply with the core identity of our school:
“I sincerely thank and appreciate you for all you have done for me… the formation you gave me shaped me into the woman I am today… I remain grateful… My alma mater is not just a Catholic secondary school — it is truly a formation house.”
These words are not merely a tribute; they are living proof of the transformative power of our educational philosophy and spiritual grounding. They remind us that beyond certificates and accolades, what endures are lives shaped with honesty, integrity, resilience, and a sense of purpose.
Holistic Growth and Academic Distinction
Our commitment to excellence continues to bear fruit. Handmaids Holy Child Juniorate Amumara consistently demonstrates outstanding educational outcomes. The school’s emphasis on academic robustness, moral formation, and disciplined learning has seen its graduates excel, not only in national examinations but also in life, contributing positively to their communities and society at large.
Gratitude to Our Formators, Teachers, and Students
On this special anniversary, we extend profound appreciation to:
- Our Principals and Leaders through the years, whose stewardship has guided the school forward with wisdom and faith.
- Our dedicated teachers and staff, whose tireless efforts unlock potential in every student.
- Our current students, whose brilliance, resilience, and growth inspire us daily.

Looking Ahead With Hope
As we celebrate 38 remarkable years, we also look forward with renewed commitment to the mission of holistic education. In a world that is constantly changing, our school remains steadfast in nurturing young girls to be confident, God-centered, morally upright, socially responsible, and academically equipped to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
Today we say once again:
Long live Handmaids Holy Child Juniorate Amumara!
Long live our beloved teachers and formators!
Long live our cherished students and alumnae!
May God continue to bless, protect, and prosper this institution and all who are part of her legacy.
