We appreciate the efforts of our benefactors and benefactresses and we continue to remember them in our prayers. We offer befitting honour to the foundress of this great institution, Mother Mary Gertrude Waturuocha, of happy memory. We cannot talk of Handmaids of the Holy Child Juniorate without mentioning the following individuals, whose support, prayers, and efforts went a long way in assisting the school. We express our sincere gratitude to Most Rev. Dr. Mark Unegbu, the then Bishop of Owerri Dioceses who gave Sister Maria Perpetua Azumara the initial funds to start, and Most Rev. Dr. V.A. Chikwe, the then Bishop of Ahiara Diocese for his support and encouragement. May their gentle souls rest in peace. We remain grateful to John McShain of Philadelphia, USA (of glorious memory) who, through the appeal of his only child Rev. Sr. Pauline McShain of SHCJ, donated generously for the Juniorate to kick-off. We thank Msgr. Theo Nwalo for his fatherly advice and concern for the growth of the school.
We appreciated the support of the past and present Superior Generals of the congregation Mother Mary Gertrude Nwaturuocha, Mother Marie Therese Akwe, Mother Mary Anne Iwoh, Mother Mary Langley and Mother Leonie Martha O’Karaga; and the Provincial Superiors of the Central Eastern Province – Sr. Providential Igwe, Sr. Martha Kalu, Sr. Justina Obiajunwa and Sr. Philomena Madu.
Also worthy of acknowledgement is the spirit of hard work, selfless service and dedication to duty exhibited by the past principals of the school. They laid the foundation and framework of development for the Juniorate. We are grateful to the past and present chaplains of the school, whose co-operation and commitment helped in the spiritual formation of the students.
